Exciting news in the bag world - French brand Balmain is launching a line of new handbags. This brands story is interesting - Pierre Balmain originally was studying architecture, however his interest was designing and he was sketching and making designs for dresses during the studies and subsequently never graduated from the Ecole des Beaux Arts. His family owned a drapery business and his mother had a small fashion shop so design and fashion had been all around Pierre Balmain through his life when he finally decided to start working with designer Lucien Lelong. After this collaboration Pierre Balmain opened his own fashion house and expanded also to the United States where his label was very successful and received attention of the movie stars of that time, as well as royalty. The label expanded more and has had success also after the death of Balmain in 1982, when his friend Erik Mortensen was responsible of the designing for this brand. Also Oscar de la Renta has been designing for Balmain.
